All applicants to the program are automatically considered for integrated, four-year funding packages that may combine scholarships with research and teaching assistantships or teaching opportunities.

Federal Funding

The Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council of Canada (SSHRC) offers doctoral scholarships for Canadian citizens and permanent residents, and an elite competition for international students. Consult your department for application deadlines and procedures.

Provincial Funding

The Fonds de recherche du Québec – Société et culture (FRQSC) offers doctoral scholarships for Quebec residents. International students and Canadians from outside the province of Quebec are eligible to apply if they have a valid Régie d’assurance maladie du Québec (RAMQ) card or if they have been enrolled at a Québec university on a full-time basis for at least 2 of the 3 terms prior to the competition deadline. Applications are made directly to the FRQSC.
