Centre d’exposition de l’Université de Montréal – “Au fil des îles archipels”

September 28, 2022 By admin

As part of the Journées de la culture, the Centre d’exposition de l’Université de Montréal organise two guided tours of the exhibition Au fil des îles, archipels. The exhibition curated by Analays Alvarez Hernandez and Raquel Cruz Crespo presents the works of the artists Cécilia Bracmort, Léuli Eshrāghi, Patrick F. Henry, Kama La Mackerel, Yen-Chao Lin, Marigold Santos.

Au fil des îles, archipels brings together six artists from islands around the world, or with island origins. Over the time, these artists have been invited to Montreal/Tiohti:áke/Mooniyang, an unceded first nations territory. In visible and invisible registers, the works gathered in this exhibition are shaped by the insular and diasporic, real and imaginary, present and past conditions of their creators.

Like islands, the artworks install relationships of proximity and distance and thus blur the distinctions of “island of departure and island of arrival” to question the possibilities of an archipelago relationship and propose an affective representation of what we are and what we are becoming. For more information on the exhibition, presented until November 19, consult the website.

Details of the guided tours:

  • The first guided tour will take place on Friday, September 30, between 1:00 and 2:00 pm and will be led by the curators of the exhibition, Analays Alvarez Fernandez and Raquel Cruz Crespo. Click here to confirm your presence on the Facebook page
  • The second visit will take place on Saturday 01 October, between 13h00-14h00. Click here to confirm your presence on the Facebook page
