Yiara Event with Lindsay Nixon

ÉVÉNEMENT – February 12th, 1.605 of Concordia’s EV building, Yiara is hosting an event with Lindsay Nixon on feminist methodologies in cultural criticism. Join Yiara in welcoming Lindsay Nixon for a talk on feminist methodologies in cultural criticism! Everyone is welcome.

Feminist methodologies for cultural criticism might seem redundant in an era of #MeToo, Judy Chicago and Free the Nipple. But cultural criticism offers a myriad of feminist objects through which to analyze the optics of today’s feminisms. Feminist critics are caught between two audience demographics: an established (but dying) audience that drives profitability and content, but is resistant to cultural and institutional change; and an emerging audience deeply driven by socialist-feminist discourse and a commitment to youth activism. What is the value of feminist crit in this post-feminist world?
