Discussion – Musée des beaux arts de Montréal “Rethinking the museum”

The Montreal Museum of Fine Arts, in collaboration with the Montreal Arts Council, is organizing a series of roundtable discussions entitled Rethinking the Museum.

The first roundtable in the series will take place on Saturday, November 5 at 2:00 pm at the Museum and will feature Pasha M. Khan, Associate Professor at the Institute of Islamic Studies and Chair in Urdu Language and Culture at McGill University, Megha Sharma Sehdev, Lecturer in Anthropology, Sociology and History at Concordia University, Balbir K. Singh, Assistant Professor of Art and Racial Justice in the Department of Art History at Concordia University.

Curated and moderated by University of Toronto Department of History doctoral student Sajdeep Soomal, this conversation will explore the material, methodological, and conceptual issues behind the newly exhibited Narinder Singh and Satinder Kaur Kapany – Sikh Foundation International Sikh Art Collection. Panelists will examine the questions they raise about gender, caste, labor, modernity, the Environment and militarism.
